Stanford's Udodi Onwuzurike Holds Off Texas Tech Duo To Win NCAA 200m
Stanford sophomore Udodi Onwuzurike held off Courtney Lindsey and Terrence Jones of Texas Tech to win the men's 200m title at the NCAA Championships.
AUSTIN -- Stanford sophomore Udodi Onwuzurike held off Courtney Lindsey and Terrence Jones of Texas Tech to win the men's 200m title at the NCAA Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium
Onwuzurike finished in 19.84 seconds, third third-fastest time in the world this year.
"I'm just so thankful," Onwuzurike said. "It's been a long year of working hard by me, my teammates, my coaches, my friends and my trainers. It really took a village to get here."

And he needed every ounce of that speed coming down the final straight to stave the charge of challengers Lindsey and Jones, who crossed in 19.86 and 19.87 seconds respectively.
Onwuzurike said that winning for his school means more than the individual title itself.
"I speak for myself. I can be fast anywhere, whether it be in junior college, in the SEC, in the Pac 12 or in the Big Ten," he said. "It means more to do it for Stanford. We run for Stanford, and we want people to take us seriously. To be able to come out here and win means everything."
Florida sophomore Robert Gregory finished fourth in 19.89, and Alabama sophomore Tarsis Orogot finished fifth in 20.03.
Houston junior Shaun Maswanganyi finished sixth in 20.07, Northern Arizona senior David Dunlap finished seventh in 20.16, Louisville sophomore Cameron Miller finished eighth in 20.30, and Tennessee junior Javonte Harding finished ninth in 20.90.
