Bolt rebounds with win in Oslo

Just one week after losing to Justin Gatlin in the 100-meter dash at Rome’s Golden Gala, Usain Bolt returned to his winning ways with a 200-meter victory at Oslo’s Bislett Games. Bolt took down a field with no Jamaican or American sprinters in 19.79 for a new world leading time. He remains undefeated in Diamond League 200-meter races with his seventh victory.

With a 1.79 wind reading, Bolt dominated the field and ran through the finish line with second place finisher Jaysuma Saidy Ndure crossing .57 behind the world record holder.

On Wednesday, Bolt met with the media and laughed off a suggestion that he may be passing his prime as the world’s fastest man.

Bolt returned to the 200-meter distance for the first time since the 2012 London Olympic Games. The start to his season was hampered by hamstring injury suffered in late May. Although his season got off to a slow start, Bolt has already run under the IAAF World "A" standard of 10.15 twice in 2013.

According to Tim Layden of Sports Illustrated, only 12 other people have run faster than Bolt in Oslo. Five of those performances clocked at 19.72+.

This week, the Jamaican Athletics Administrative Association announced defending IAAF world champions will be preferred over Diamond League winners as wild card athletes on the national team roster heading to Moscow. Bolt gets the roster spot over Nickel Ashmeade in the 200-meter dash.

Yohan Blake
was selected over Bolt in the 100-meter. Blake won the 2011 IAAF Championship in Daegu after Bolt false started in the race. As a result of the selection, Bolt will have to race the 100-meter dash on June 20 at Jamaica's National Senior Trials.
