Notable entries Craig Engels of Ole Miss, Patrick Joseph of Virginia Tech and top returner Eliud Rutto of Middle Tennessee State failed to advance to tomorrow's final. Joseph was tripped in the opening lap and nearly crashed into a electronic results board. Rutto faded hard in his section to finish just sixth in heat 2.
The NCAA 800m finals will be contested at 5:20PM CT on Saturday, March 11.
