After two years at the National Training Center in Clermont, Flo Golden South (formerly the Golden South Classic) will return to The First Academy on May 19, 2018. The Orlando school will play host to the 42nd edition of the meet that has seen high school All-Americans, NCAA champions, Olympians and more in its storied career.
The event, sponsored by ASICS, will feature both the prep and classic divisions, like in past years, as well as a professional men's and women's 100m dash, which promises to give fans in attendance an extra dash of excitement.
Early verbal commitments from some of the nation's best talent, including Tyrese Cooper, Briana Williams, Tamari Davis, Anthony Schwartz, and Jamal Walton, give the 2018 Flo Golden South the firepower to be the fastest ever.
In addition to fast, TFA coach Moushaumi Robinson, a University of Texas alum and member of the 2004 gold medal 4x400m relay, promises the meet will also be fun. Bounce houses, food trucks, face painters, and balloon artists make this the perfect day for a family outing.
"My goal as head Coach at TFA in partnering with FloSports to host the new Golden South, is to bring together the best athletes, clubs, and coaches in Florida and surrounding area in the sport of track and field and celebrate, athletics at all ages and talents," Robinson said. "From the Classic division, to Elite, to the professional races, Flo Golden South promises to be a fun-filled, competitive start to the summer track season."
