Chicago Marathon Confidence Picks: Rupp Finally Gets Win Over Farah
Chicago Marathon Confidence Picks: Rupp Finally Gets Win Over Farah
Here are five Chicago Marathon confidence picks including Galen Rupp, Mo Farah, Gwen Jorgensen and Laura Thweatt.
It's the matchup distance fans have been waiting for--Galen Rupp and Mo Farah will race on Sunday in the Chicago Marathon. Farah has only lost once to his former training partner (at an indoor mile race in 2012), but this is the first time the two will meet in a marathon.
The 2018 Chicago Marathon is streaming live on FloTrack for viewers in the U.K. and Ireland.
Rupp is the more experienced of the two at the distance--Sunday will be the seventh marathon Rupp has started. Farah has only run two, both in London.
Both men are primed to run fast. Rupp set a personal best this spring, a 2:06:07 in Prague, while Farah set his PR of 2:06:21 in London. With the presence of pacesetters (and big-name runners like Geoffrey Kirui, Abel Kirui and three men who have broken 2:05), the pace shouldn't lag. Will it go quick enough for Rupp to break the American record of 2:05:38? That's just one of a multitude of questions that will be sorted out on Sunday.
