J.J. Clark Named Stanford Coach
J.J. Clark will be named the new Stanford head coach after Chris Miltenberg left for UNC.
J.J. Clark will be named the Director of Track and Field at Stanford, according to multiple sources.
Clark comes from to the Cardinal from UCONN where he took over as head coach in 2014. Prior to UCONN, Clark coached at Tennessee from 2001 to 2014. While at Tennessee he coached the team to national titles in 2005 and 2009.
Clark fills the void left by Chris Miltenberg, who left last month for North Carolina. The opening was the most high profile of all the NCAA jobs this off-season given Stanford's success, particularly in the distance events.
For cross country, the men's team is expected to be one of the best in the nation with veterans Alek Parsons, Alex Ostberg and Thomas Ratcliffe. The women's squad placed fifth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and returns Fiona O'Keeffe and Christian Aragon. FloTrack's distance recruiting rankings put both teams in the number one spot.
