Analysis:
Three-time NCAA XC All-American Anna Rohrer leads a young, talented Notre Dame squad that is aiming for top 10 in Terre Haute this November. The Irish placed eighth last year, their highest finish since 2015—when Molly Seidel won the individual national title. Only senior Rohrer and sophomore Jacqueline Gaughan return from that top five, but freshmen Maddy Denner, Elena Denner and Olivia Markevich are expected to make an immediate impact on the program.
Maddy and Elena Denner are redshirt freshmen and twins who nearly won the California state track and field team title on their own for Oak Ridge High School in 2018. Maddy decommitted from Michigan to join Elena at Notre Dame this past January and quickly transitioned to collegiate running by placing 19th in the 10K at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Both girls ran close to 10-flat for two miles as prep athletes and their joint presence adds much-needed depth to the Irish roster. True incoming freshmen Markevich and Emily Eberhart placed within the top-40 last year at Foot Locker and NXN, respectively.
