NCAA Moves DI Northeast Regional To Road Course Due To Poor Conditions
The NCAA has taken the extraordinary step to turn the Northeast regional into a road race due to safety concerns.
Due to treacherous course conditions in Buffalo, New York, for Friday’s Division I Northeast regional, the NCAA has taken the extraordinary step to move the cross country races away from Audubon Golf Course and onto a road course.
Over 11 inches of snowfall hit western New York state on Monday and Tuesday, with the nearly 9 inches of snow on Monday alone breaking a 77-year-old record for accumulation on Nov. 11.

Nearly 9 inches of snow fell in Buffalo yesterday, breaking a 77-year-old record for November 11.
That just means @UBAthletics was ready to attack the day today, clearing the course ahead of Friday's Northeast Regional Championships.#UBhornsUP, indeed! pic.twitter.com/VySocxzGj9
The host school at the University of Buffalo managed to clear much of the course on Tuesday, but the NCAA Track and Field and Cross Country Committee still deemed the terrain to be unsafe for racing.

The meet was originally going to be held at Audubon Golf Course.
In an email to coaches, the NCAA explained their rationale:
