Below are FloTrack’s top five professional female performers of 2019:
5. Malaika Mihambo, Long Jump
Mihambo didn't lose outdoors, taking the Diamond League title and gold at the World Championships. And she ended her year in style--jumping 7.30 meters in Doha, a lifetime best.

4. Salwa Eid Naser, 400m
Naser turned in the most stunning performance of the World Championships, running 48.14 and moving her to third all-time in the 400m. It also scored her a big victory over Shaunae Miller-Ubio, one of the biggest favorites in the entire meet.

What an incredible 400m final.
The gold goes to 21-year-old Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain.

3. Sifan Hassan, 1500m - 10,000m
These top three are so hard to separate--each making their own unique case. For Hassan, it was about range. No one had completed a 1500m and 10,000m golden double before she did it (comfortably) in Doha. On top of that, she won the Diamond League titles in the 1500m and 5000m and ran a 65-minute half marathon.

2. Dalilah Muhammad, 400m Hurdles
Muhammad broke the world record twice--and did it on the biggest stages--first, at the USATF Championships in Des Moines and again at the World Championships in Doha. The second came with little room for error as she held off Sydney McLaughlin, who put up the third-best mark in history.

1. Brigid Kosgei, Marathon/Half-Marathon
She only broke the world record once, but she did it by a staggering margin, knocking 81 seconds off of Paula Radcliffe's mark that appeared out of reach for the current generation. Add in the fact that she dominated the most competitive marathon of the year in London and ran the fast half-marathon ever recorded and Kosgei did basically everything a marathoner could do in a year.
