Men’s 5,000m

When: 7:30 pm CT Friday

Who: Eric Jenkins, Paul Tanui, Geordie Beamish, Tyler Day, Luis Grijalva, Matt Baxter

The last time Eric Jenkins ran an indoor 5k in Boston, in 2017, he became the second fastest American ever indoors with his 13:05.85. The 28-year-old will hope for a similar performance on Friday in a race also featuring 10,000m Olympic silver medalist Paul Tanui. Their target is the 13:13.50 Olympic standard, and Craig Engels will bring them through 3,000m on that pace.

Also in the race are a slew of Northern Arizona All-Americans— Geordie Beamish, Tyler Day, Luis Grijalva and Blaise Ferro— plus former NAU star Matt Baxter. 13:13 is a stretch for everyone in this group— Tyler Day has the best PB of the bunch at 13:25— but sub-13:20 could be in play for multiple guys.

Men’s Mile

When: 2:30 pm CT Saturday

Who: Craig Engels, Sam Worley, Daniel Herrera

2019 U.S. 1500m champion Craig Engels will make his 2020 debut in the mile on Saturday after pacing the men’s 5k on Friday night. The 25-year-old has run 3:53.89 on this very track, and he’ll likely be looking for a U.S. Indoors qualifier (3:40.20/3:57.50). Texas All-American Sam Worley (3:57.98 PB) will also line up in Boston.

Women’s 800m

When: 12:15 pm CT Friday

Who: Lindsey Butterworth, Cynthia Anais, Maité Bouchard

Canadian Lindsey Butterworth ran a 2:00.31 PB in 2019 and made it to the World Championship semi-finals in Doha, and she’ll open her 2020 campaign on Friday in Boston. She’ll face 2:00 runner Cynthia Anais of France and fellow Canadian Maité Bouchard (2:01.25 PB).
