NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement that “essential staff and limited family” attendance will be the only exception as the collegiate association seeks to reduce the chance of spreading the virus in large crowds.
This weekend’s NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field Championships will be affected by the announcement, although it is not yet clear how the NCAA will limit attendance in Albuquerque.
The term “limited family” has not been defined, but it is safe to assume that most people will not be permitted entry for the indoor championships.
