5. Oregon Women Set 4x100m Collegiate Record In 2017

Although the record has been eclipsed many times since, the Oregon women set a short-lived 42.34 4x100m collegiate record at the 2017 Florida Relays. The quartet of Makenzie Dunmore, Deajah Stevens, Hannah Cunliffe and Ariana Washington broke a mark that had stood for eight years.

4. Anthony Schwartz Sets 100m Age Group World Record In 2017

Football/track dual threat Anthony Schwartz flashed the speed that made him a prized recruit for Auburn in 2017 when he ripped a wind-legal 10.15 100m as a 16-year-old, an age group world record and the fastest time by a high schooler that season.

3. Andrés Arroyo Erupts For 1:47 800m In 2013

Future Florida Gator Andrés Arroyo had never broken 1:51 before he exploded for a 1:47.79 in 2013, then the seventh-fastest 800m run by a U.S. high schooler in history.

2. Sydney McLaughlin’s Huge Triple In 2018

You may be surprised to learn that Sydney McLaughlin’s 400m PB is from her first outdoor meet as a collegiate from 2018, but her 50.07 at that year’s Florida Relays is one of just two open 400m races she’s run in the last two years. The phenom made her rare appearance in the event count, as the time stands as the fourth-fastest in collegiate history and the quickest NCAA mark ever before April.

The 400m performance was only one-third of the show the Kentucky freshman put on in Gainesville, as she bookended her 400m run with a 22.39 200m best-- then the fastest by a U20 athlete since Allyson Felix in 2004-- before splitting a zippy 49.45 in the Wildcats’ winning 4x400m.

McLaughlin went on to smash the 400m hurdles collegiate record at SECs (52.75), and of course, take silver at the World Championships the following year, but her trifecta at the 2018 Florida Relays still stands out as one of her best moments to date.

1. A 4x400 For The Ages As Collegians Topple Pros In 2014

This race was loaded with professional star-power-- including gold medalists Lashawn Merritt, Christian Taylor and Kerron Clement-- which is why the epic comeback victory by Florida was so dramatic. Then Gator sophomore Arman Hall split a preposterous 43.84 anchor to carry Florida to 2:59.73 clocking, then the second-fastest time in NCAA history.

But more than just a fast time, this race had everything: the crowd, our announcers and the athletes all collectively lost their minds in the wake of the greatest moment in Florida Relays history.
