12-year-old Patricio Pardo put on a show at the AAU Junior Olympics 2023 on Monday.
Pardo, the youngster from Bethesda, MD, dominated the 12-year-old boys 3,000m in record-setting fashion, clocking 9:33.67 for a new AAU Junior Olympics national record for the age group.
That broke a 3,000m AAU Junior Olympics age group national record that had previously stood for 36 years.
James Garritson set the previous AAU best at 9:40.8h back in the 1980s, making it one of the more long-standing national records in the event's history.
Pardo now owns two Junior Olympic records to his name after setting the 11-year-old boys 3,000m all-time best last year in Greensboro.
