Gideon Newton brought the AAU Junior Olympics crowd to its feet in the boys 400m prelims.

The 13-year-old out of Alabama didn't hold anything back in the qualifying rounds of the quarter-mile as he dominated the field with a new AAU Junior Olympics age group record of 49.11 on Friday afternoon.

That obliterated the previous 13-year-old boys record of 49.98 set just last year.

Newton beat the rest of the field by over three seconds to set himself up for what could be any even faster final on Saturday.
