Canadian pole vault record holder Shawn Barber, the 2015 world champion, has died from medical complications. He was 29.

EUGENE -- Armand Duplantis continued to push boundaries in the men's pole vault, breaking the world record for the seventh time in his career, soaring over  6.23m/20-5.25 at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field.

The IAAF plans to reduce the amount of time given for each pole vault attempt next year, and world-record holder Renaud Lavillenie of France is not a fan of the change. At this weekend's Prefontaine Classic, Lavillenie spoke out passionately against the new rules.

Less than a year after he became the first high schooler to clear 18 feet indoors, Mondo Duplantis turned in maybe the best vault series in high school history. The junior from Lafayette, Louisiana, who competes for Sweden, cleared 18-2 to break his own high school indoor record, then jumped 18-5 for the best indoor or outdoor vault in high school history. The IAAF banned Russian pole vaulter from competing at the Rio Olympics, but she still traveled to Brazil to win an election. According to to Inside The Games, Isinbayeva has been staying in the athletes' village since Sunday and today won a seat on the IOC athletes' commission. 5,000 athletes--out of 11,000 competing in Rio--voted for four seats on the commission, and Isinbayeva finished fourth among 23 candidates.
