It goes without saying that many legendary track stars have come out of the University of Oregon throughout the years. No school is more closely associated with the sport of track and field in the universe, and it’s not even close. An Oregon coach literally invented the first Nike track spike, and the program hasn’t slowed a bit since the days of Bill Bowerman.

In response to Mary Cain's accusations of physical and emotional abuse against her former coach, Alberto Salazar has provided a statement to The Oregonian's Ken Goe refuting Cain's claims.

Four years after the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) began its investigation, two years after the agency's report was leaked online, and two days after Nike Oregon Project athlete Sifan Hassan won 10,000m gold at the 2019 IAAF World Championships, Alberto Salazar's verdict and sentence were delivered.
