Dentarius Locke Can't wait to tell mom about 9.97
Jun 5, 2013
We didn't believe it. FSU's Dentarius Locke didn't believe it. Then we saw the wind. +1.9 m/s. Just like that, Locke's 9.97 was legal and we had the first sub-10 mark of the season. "It's been a long three or four years, so it's a dream come true," Locke says to start of the interview. "The first thing I want to do is call my mom." Even though it was just barely legal, Locke now sits tied for 8th all-time in college history. It's not the present, but the past that makes this such an emotional first day of the NCAA championships. Locke had to sit out two years from competition and even though things seemed dark, his family and faith was there to support him. Now in a Seminole jersey, Locke is at the top of the NCAA 100m list. He has some pretty good timing since it came in the first round of the 100m at the national championship. Can he carry this momentum and take the win?
