Betsy Saina wins first title of the weekend, but title two will be toughest yet
Jun 5, 2013
Finally. Iowa State's Betsy Saina cranked the pace down over the final 400m in the women's 10k and clinched her first NCAA Outdoor title. It's been a roller coaster year for Saina. While she won the individual crown during cross country, indoors was not as kind to her as she took second in the 5k and fourth in the 3k. But the past is the past. After changing up some things in her training, Saina is all smiles outdoors. She had to work for the win over Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton, but the 10k didn't take too much out of her legs. Saina now looks toward Friday, where she'll run the 5k. She'll go up against a tough Abbey D'Agostino, but can Saina complete the double?
