Bowerman Award Finalists Announced

The finalists for the Bowerman Award, the highest honor in NCAA DI track and field, were announced today by the USTFCCCA. Raevyn Rogers of Oregon, Keturah Orji of Georgia and Maggie Ewen of Arizona State are the women's finalists; Christian Coleman of Tennessee, Fred Kerley of Texas A&M and Lindon Victor of Texas A&M are the men's finalists. One man and one woman will be selected the Bowerman Award recipient at the USTFCCCA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona in December of this year.

Christian Coleman Turns Pro

After one of the greatest collegiate sprinting seasons of all time, Christian Coleman is skipping his senior season and turning professional. According to SEC Country, Coleman signed with Emanuel Hudson's HSI agency and will be remaining in Tennessee. It was an obvious choice for Coleman to turn pro: if he signs a shoe contract before next week's U.S. championships, he avoids the risk of tanking his value by missing the worlds team with an injury. (If that were to happen, Coleman's next opportunity to make an outdoor worlds team would be in 2019.)

Kyra Jefferson Sets NCAA Record In Bizarre 200m

University of Florida senior Kyra Jefferson broke the 28-year-old NCAA record in the 200m in what was the most bizarre NCAA final of the weekend in Eugene, Oregon. She ran 22.02 (+1.1) to take down the record previously set at 22.04 by Dawn Sowell of LSU in 1989.

Charlotte Taylor claimed the University of San Francisco's first-ever NCAA title in track and field with a poised victory in the women's 10k. The senior crossed the line in 32:38.57, four seconds ahead of New Mexico's Alice Wright and Kansas' Sharon Lokedi, whom she pulled away from in a decisive move just before the bell lap.
