Edward Cheserek is in the midst of gaining his U.S. citizenship. This means that the former University of Oregon standout won’t compete in any national team events. The situation has prompted an interesting test case in what athletes do when they don’t have national championships or international championships to anchor their schedule.

Last week, I wondered if Missouri's three-time NCAA champion Karissa Schweizer had a chance to break Jenny Simpson's 4:25.91 collegiate record in the mile after the 5K specialist turned in a somewhat-shocking 4:27.54 run at the New York Armory.

Ajee Wilson had her work cut out for her when she received the baton at Saturday’s Millrose Games. In order to break the 4x800m relay indoor world record, Wilson needed to run close to her indoor personal best. The three teammates who ran before Wilson didn’t leave her much room for error, but they did run fast enough to give a her chance of breaking the existing world record of 8:06.24.

NEW YORK – Like most athletes, American Aries Merritt and Jamaica’s Asafa Powell were in tune with which athletes were competing in the 111th NYRR Millrose Games.
On Saturday night at the Armory, Ajee Wilson, Raevyn Rogers, Charlene Lipsey, and Chrishuna Williams will take a crack at the world record in the women’s 4x800m relay — a mark held by a Russian team from 2011. While the relative strength of various indoor records varies, it’s important to note that most record attempts in the relays don’t have this much firepower behind them.
